Pima County Jail Roster Overview
The official Pima County inmate records search is the Pima County Sheriff's Department Inmate Lookup. It is branded for the Pima County Adult Detention Center and covers people currently held in the Adult Detention Complex. PCSD says the roster was built to help courts, criminal-justice agencies, and the public access inmate information. The same notice also warns that the list includes sentenced people, people held for another jurisdiction, and people accused but not convicted. That wording matters because a roster entry is a custody record, not proof of guilt.
The roster is narrow by design. It does not serve as an archive for every released inmate, and it does not cover the Arizona State Prison Complex - Tucson, FCI Tucson, USP Tucson, or immigration detention. A person sentenced to Arizona state prison should be checked through the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry Inmate Data Search. A person in Bureau of Prisons custody belongs in the BOP Inmate Locator. ICE custody is searched through ICE ODLS, which is separate from the Pima County jail roster.
The official PCSD jail page identifies the Adult Detention Complex and the Ajo District Jail as Pima County jail locations. It also routes visitors to the inmate lookup, visitation, mail, inmate accounts, court information, property, and jail records pages. That makes the sheriff's jail page the best hub when the roster gives a name and booking number but the reader still needs records, visits, mail, phone, bond, or property details.
Use the Pima County Inmate Roster
The Pima County inmate roster has one visible search input. The public instructions say to enter the inmate's last name and click the lookup button. The form rejects entries that use characters other than letters or dashes, so hyphenated surnames can be tried, but numbers and punctuation are not accepted. Common surnames may return several results. Use age, booking number, housing location, total bond, and court reference to sort out matches.
- Open the PCSD Inmate Lookup and read the current-custody and commercial-use notice.
- Enter the last name in the search box, using letters and dashes only.
- Click Lookup Inmate and compare every returned name, age, booking number, location, and bond line.
- Copy the court reference exactly before searching the court portal or asking for a jail report.
- If the person is not listed, call the jail at (520) 351-8111, use the jail records request process, or check ADCRR, BOP, ICE, and VINELink.
The lookup does not open a separate detailed profile in the inspected web results. The useful Pima County inmate record fields appear in the result list itself. That means the roster can answer quick custody questions, but it may not show the arresting agency, charge text, full statute, booking time, release date, or mugshot that a family member expects to see.

A Pima County inmate record shown in the public roster is most useful for current custody, housing, court reference, and bond status. Inspected results displayed names in uppercase, numeric age, a nine-digit booking number, housing location, total bond, and a bond/court table. Housing locations used local unit text such as East, West, or Tower pod, room, and bed references. That housing detail suggests the person has moved far enough through intake and classification for a public custody entry to be posted.

The same public web result did not show DOB, address, physical description, arresting agency, charge description, statute text, court date, release date, or a booking photo. For photos and jail reports not on the roster, use the PCSD Obtain Jail Report form.
Pima County Jail Records Requests
The Jail Records Unit is the fallback when the public Pima County inmate records page is too limited. PCSD says the jail-report form is for jail records only. The request asks for the requester name, mailing address, contact phone, inmate full name, and the details of the request. Helpful inmate identifiers include date of birth, name number, booking number, and housing location. Online requests are submitted through a form with reCAPTCHA, and payments are processed through Clover after the request is reviewed.
Records can also be requested in person or by mail through Pima County Adult Detention Complex, Attn: Jail Record Requests, 1270 W. Silverlake Road, Tucson, AZ 85713. The Jail Records Requests message line is (520) 351-8228. PCSD states that release is subject to the PCADC Custodian of Records and the PCSD Legal Advisor. Medical records, security video, visitation video, and telephone recordings have stricter rules and may require releases, subpoenas, or court orders.

Pima County Jail vs State Prison
Pima County inmate records split by custody system. The Pima County Sheriff's Department runs the county jail and the current jail roster. ADCRR runs state prisons such as Arizona State Prison Complex - Tucson. The Federal Bureau of Prisons runs FCI Tucson and USP Tucson. ICE uses ODLS for immigration custody. Custody split: A Pima County jail booking can lead to court, release, state prison, federal custody, or an outside hold, so one missing roster entry does not prove the person is free.
Pima County Jail Facilities
The county roster is tied to PCSD custody, but Pima County also contains state and federal facilities that are searched through other systems. The Ajo District Jail is a PCSD satellite jail location. Pima County Booking Process
A local arrest or court order usually leads to transport to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex or to another PCSD-assigned location. During intake, the jail creates or updates identifiers, inventories property, screens health and mental-health needs, assigns housing, and connects the booking to court and bond information. Pima County Correctional Health Division says adults at the Adult Detention Complex receive routine and emergency medical care, dental care, mental-health evaluation and treatment, substance-use support, preventive care, and release planning.
First appearances are handled by video court. PCSD court information lists daily morning and evening sessions, and inmates appear by video before the judge instead of being taken into the courtroom for that first appearance. If a judge orders release, PCSD says release processing happens after the court session and can take time. Bond payment, court orders, no-bond holds, detainers, and other-jurisdiction holds can all affect when someone leaves custody.

Pima County Inmate Visitation
PCSD visitation is scheduled through the official visitation page and the GTL/ViaPath scheduling portal. Same-day walk-in visits are not accepted. Visitors must schedule at least one day ahead, report to the Main Jail Front Desk before the scheduled time, and bring current photo ID. PCSD also states that lockdowns, discipline, or other facility needs may cancel or postpone visits.

Contact and Account Channels
Phone, voicemail, e-messages, mail, tablets, and money deposits are handled through separate PCSD pages and vendors. GTL AdvancePay prepaid accounts are used for calls and voicemail. PCSD says voicemail messages can be left through the local voicemail system, and ConnectNetwork supports e-messages. Mail has a strict postcard and digital-copy process. Incoming postcards are copied digitally or photocopied, then originals are destroyed after a stated retention period.

Money and bond channels are also distinct. The Inmate Accounts Office accepts certain bond and account transactions, lobby kiosks accept cash, credit, and debit card transactions, and online or phone bond payments use TouchPay / GTL Financial Services with service fees. Commissary packages are routed through the Pima County packages portal linked from the PCSD jail menu. Before paying, confirm the person remains in custody and that no hold blocks release.
